Brand Overview

E-flite is a brand of RC airplanes, power systems, electronics, and accessories that is designed and marketed to the RC hobby industry.  The brand is owned and managed by Horizon Hobby of Champaign, Illinois, USA.

The E-flite brand's main niche in the RC hobby industry is the entry-level to mid-range, electric, park flyer airplane kit.  The brand fills this market segment with very nice quality Bind-and-Fly, Plug-and-Play, Ready-to-Fly, and Almost-Ready-to-Fly kits that generally all come mostly assembled.  The airplane kits generally all come with a stock power system which consists of a motor and ESC at a minimum.  Depending on the completion level the airplane kits will also be bundled with batteries, chargers, and some degree of radio electronics like servos, receiver, and in some cases a transmitter.

Most of the E-flite lineup of aircraft have a nice long product life cycle and are popular among hobbyists which makes the supply of first-hand and second-hand replacement parts an ample one.  The models are generally made of foam of some sort and are very nicely detailed/finished right out of the box.  The fit and finish has continued to improve in recent years with improvements in molded foam technologies.

Until recently the E-flite brand contained, in addition to their RC airplane line-up, the Blade RC helicopter line of products.  The brands were recently separated by Horizon Hobby, though.  In addition to the RC aircraft kits, the E-flite brand contains a nice array of power systems including brushed and brushless motors, electronic speed controllers, batteries, and ducted fans.  The brand also includes electronics and accessories like chargers, servos, propellers, landing gear, and a host of other items.

The E-flite brand of products is available through Horizon Hobby's website as well as their extensive portfolio of retail dealers, both online and local shops, throughout the US and the world.
