Hangar 9 News
Hangar 9 is a brand of RC airplanes that are engineered, produced, and marketed to the RC hobby industry. The brand is owned and managed by Horizon Hobby of Champaign, Illinois, USA.
The Hangar 9 product line is targeted toward the RC hobbyist who is looking for high-quality, unique RC airplane kits without the need for extensive build times. Most Hangar 9 kits have a good degree of the build already completed and allow the modeler the ability to finish the build without having to assemble tedious structural components, skins, paints, and finishes. The Hangar 9 builder is mainly focused on selecting their own radio electronics and choosing from a few recommended power systems, most of which include 2-stroke, 4-stroke, and electric options.
Hangar 9 kits come in a wide range of sizes and complexities that range from several nicely done trainer models all the way up to the brand's flagship lineup of giant scale beauties including the Taylorcraft 26cc, the 3.1m Sukhoi SU-26MM, the 100C Beast Bi-plane, and a few other remarkable designs.
The Hangar 9 brand fills out nicely in the middle with offerings in the 40, 50, and 60-size ranges including some nicely done war birds like the P-51D Blue Nose and the F4U-1D Corsair. In addition to the war birds a nice array of sport and scale pattern and classic models round out the list.
Hangar 9 RC aircraft can be purchased from the Horizon Hobby website as well as the company's vast number of online and local hobby shops throughout the US and the world.
